A few weekends ago, my husband and I went out for dinner, just the two of us! We talked, we laughed, and we shared funny stories. The time flew by as we were able to enjoy each other’s company, without being distracted with family or work obligations.

Many of us have schedules that seem way too busy to include time for date nights, flowers, or anything romantic for our spouses or companions. The good news is…romance doesn’t have to be gone from your relationship.

With a little bit of organizing and planning, even the busiest people can find time for the important people in their lives.

My husband and I never leave our date nights up to ‘when we have time.’ If we did that, there’s no way we’d ever be on a date night because other necessities and obligations tend to quickly fill up our schedules.

Instead, we pick a date on our calendars a few weeks ahead and then create a plan to make it happen. For us, it’s generally as easy as getting a sitter or seeing if our daughter can play at a friend’s house for a few hours (we always return the favor!)

Except for very special occasions, we’re happy with a casual dinner out and a movie, or some bowling.

It doesn’t even have to cost money. On some occasions, even a quiet dinner and movie at home with your special someone can be just as nice, or even nicer, than a night out on the town.

At any rate, a little bit of romance can help keep us young!
