Hello Virtues, I bid you welcome to a new season, I pray your desires are fulfilled as you step out boldly to make your dreams come true. My musings have been centred on this essential topic: seasons; I will be sharing my thoughts in episodes. Globally, it is summer time, our children are on vacation and many families have made plans to maximise this period.
For reference, permit me to quote this verse from the Holy book: “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease,” Genesis 8:22, New International Version.
Seasons were created by the Master Planner; to add essence and adventure to our sojourn here on earth.
Till the end of age or close of time, sowing and reaping, cold and heat, dryness and wetness, and day and night will perpetually succeed one another. It may not be in the order we expect due to global warming, but be sure to see them in their divine order. The joy I derive from this chronological order is that no situation or ordeal is permanent in our lives; they come and they go.
This has opened my eyes to the many possibilities each season affords us; the privilege to endure, explore and enjoy the changes are choice-based. Therefore, preparation, acceptance and utilisation are major factors that determine how favourable the seasons will play out in our individual and collective experiences.
In this episode, we will focus on preparation as a key determinant to exploring the best of a particular season –as it encapsulates our activities or processes in and out of season. Preparation also connotes planning, development, training.
Let’s use this simple analogy; pregnancy and delivery. It is no doubt a temporary period in a woman’s life, a delightful one at that. Once a woman conceives, preparations are put in place to welcome the new bundle of joy; I will not bore you with the details. However, it is illogical to think that all that is required to nurture a baby will be purchased right after its delivery.
These questions should come to our minds as we make preparations.
• What are the devices we deploy?
• How do we put our house in order?
• What are the resources we need?
• Are we mentally and emotionally prepared to handle/accommodate the changes?
One thing is certain, whether we are prepared for the next phase or not, changes are inevitable. Just as time is no respecter of persons, seasons also creep in on us. There is no such thing as being caught unawares, which may perhaps be the excuses some give for not adapting to a change of season.
When we make adequate preparations, we fortify ourselves from unforeseen circumstances or ills. The focus here is to find your footing and rhythm; at least you should be comfortable in your own skin.
