Jill Biden: From Desires to Achieving Great Feats

While growing up Jill Biden had wanted two things: a marriage like her parents’ – strong, loving, and full of laughter – and a career. This was revealed in one of her books titled Where the Light Enters. Seeing where Jill is now and what she has achieved, it is obvious that eighty percent ,if not all, of her desires have been realised. If you are still wondering who Jill Biden is, she became the First Lady of the United States of America on the 20th of January, 2021.

We have gathered some information about Jill Biden, not only because she has become the first lady of the United States, but for you to have a knowledge of what she really wanted while growing and how she has worked towards achieving them.

Jill Biden was born on June 3, 1951 in Hammonton, New Jersey to Bonny and Donald Jacobs. She graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1969, then graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in English in 1975.

In 1976, Jill Biden began to teach English at St Mark’s High School in Wilmington. At that time, she was pursuing a Master of Education with a speciality in reading from Westchester University. She completed her first master’s degree in 1981. She forged ahead to teach English at Rockford Centre psychiatric hospital while she also pursuing another Master of Arts in English from Villanova University. In 2007, Jill received a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware.

Jill Biden will be the first presidential spouse to continue her professional career. Speaking to CBS news, she said, “If we get to the White House, I’m gonna continue to teach. It’s important, and I want people to value teachers and know their contributions, and lift up the profession.” Jill Biden, also called Dr B by her students, no doubt means she would be an active teacher despite her position. So far, Jill Biden has been able to stand out in her career pathway, especially because when her husband was elected Vice President, Jill continued teaching at Northern Virginia Community College, and helped to promote community colleges.

Interestingly, Jill’s marriage with Joe Biden is her second marriage. Her first marriage was with Bill Stevenson, the owner of the iconic Stone Ballon Bar in Delware. After she had divorced Bill Stevenson, Jill Biden was skeptical if she would ever have find love. However, after several advances from Joe Biden, she agreed to become his beloved wife. Ever since then, Jill Biden has proved to be a dedicated wife and mother.

On a lighter note, Jill Biden can be called a joke lover, and it is evident in the words of her granddaughter that, “once my grandmother finds a dead snake while jogging, she would take it and start to scare everyone at home.” With this, we can tell that Jill Biden relates well with everyone around her.

Given her experiences and educational backgrounds, Jill has spent so much on her career and according to her, “teaching is not what I do, it’s who I am.” She has stressed the importance of carving a career path. She has also told a story of wishes come true.
