It is a big year for the current MBGN Universe, Debbie Collins; as she partners with International Charity Smile Train West Africa to create awareness and advocate for children with cleft lips and palates in Nigeria.

Debbie’s contribution as the Goodwill Ambassador for Smile Train in Nigeria will help create awareness concerning the issues faced by children living with untreated clefts.

According to research, about 6,100 children in Nigeria are born with clefts every year. Smile Train hopes to drastically reduce this number. Smile Train’s local partners in Nigeria have helped more than 13,700 patients and are active in 36 States and FCT Abuja.

The top model will be visiting some of Smile Train’s partner hospitals in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja to see the local surgeons perform life-changing cleft surgeries first-hand and interact with some of the patients.

She represented Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant held in December 2015, and has been involved with several different causes over the course of her reign.

She will also be spearheading a few campaigns in the weeks to come. For more details about Smile Train West Africa, please visit
