5 Scriptures for When Your Partner Has Been Unfaithful

When you entered into this relationship, you never thought that one day you’d be sitting here in pieces. You came into the relationship with open arms, hoping that you found your soul mate and now you’re questioning the entirety of the relationship – and you’re asking God ‘why’. While it may not seem like it now, one day you’ll look back on this time and be grateful for the lessons you’ve learned. One day you’ll look back on the unfaithfulness and find strength within the tumultuous time. But since you’re living in the now, you’ll need encouragement and strength to guide you to higher grounds. You’ll find that hope within scripture – others have walked the path before you and have can attest that life does go on. When you’re feeling alone and betrayed, turn to these powerful words for guidance and solitude. Always know that your faith serves as your platform and it will never crumble because your God is an awesome God.

Proverbs 3:3-5

“Trust in the lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Whether you’ve been cheated on before, as a human being who is dealing with an unfaithful partner you feel as though no one else can understand your hurt. When you’re betrayed, it feels like you’re alone and no matter how terrible anyone else’s experience may have been – yours feels worse. Instead of listening to the outsiders telling you how to cope with your partner’s unfaithfulness, turn to your Lord and Savior for support and guidance. Communicate with Him and tell Him what your fears and frustrations are. While He may not speak to you directly, you will find solace within the path that He guides you towards.

1 Corinthians 7:15-17

“But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O man, whether you will save your wife? But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk…”

Life happens and there is no way you can control your wife and/or husband. Even though you may have a strong connection within the relationship they may not. Accept that. Know that everyone lives their own life and creates their own destiny. However, despite the frustrations and obstacles thrown in your way – know that God is walking side by side with you along your journey. Don’t turn to God and ask Him why He would make you suffer through this unfaithful relationship. Don’t blame Him for your partner’s infidelity. And don’t allow the rest of your world to fall apart because of your partner’s lack of judgment. Instead lean on your Lord and Savior and allow Him to take the wheel. He’ll direct you into the path you were meant to live. If that means to forgive your partner and move forward then He’ll show you the way. If that means to move on from the relationship then He’ll guide you down that path. Your Jesus will never leave you astray.

Philippians 4:19

“Buy my God shall supply all your need…”

When your heart is broken into a million pieces and your world feels like it’s completely unraveled, it can be difficult to see the light that is waiting at the end of the tunnel. Don’t waste your time questioning why infidelity has ruined your relationship. Don’t waste time beating yourself up and questioning what is wrong with you. Instead raise your head up high and face the world because anything and everything that you will need to overcome the unfaithfulness will be supplied by God. He knows what you will need to survive. He knows what it will take for you to truly feel complete again. Have faith in His actions and be patient. Try to remember and keep the notion in your hindsight that everything truly happens for a reason.

Isaiah 30: 20-21

“And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed in a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers. And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

Many people dealing with unfaithfulness struggle with understanding the bigger picture. While they know their God will show them the way, their heartache takes over and makes them feel incompetent. It’s important to remember that God puts people into the lives of others for a reason. Everyone we come into contact with best friends, family, and acquaintances all have a purpose in our lives. Even though God may not be speaking to you when you communicate your frustrations, it’s important to know that His voice is much louder and can be seen throughout your life. When you are feeling alone and isolated, look around and count your blessings.

Proverbs 30: 21-23

“Under three things the earth trembles, under four it cannot bear up. A servant who becomes king, a fool who is full of food, an unloved woman who is married, and a maidservant who displaces her mistress.”

During this difficult time you’re enduring, remember that you’re not alone in this broken mess. You’re not the only one that’s effected by the unfaithfulness that your partner has committed. Know that your heart may be broken, but the world around you is also extremely effected by the foul actions. Your children, family and friends will all feel waves and tremors because of the infidelity. Don’t allow your heartbreak to suffocate your presence because the others effected will need you to be there – together you can lean on your Lord and Savior for comfort and strength. As long as you have God, you’ll never be alone!
